Got a show coming up? Just wanna let me pick your brain?
Whether you're emerging or established, I invite Metro DC area artists to email me at lboocks@yahoo.com with answers to 5 of the following questions. Please let me know if you have any questions (either about this project, or a question you'd like to answer that I didn't think of). Send a jpg of yourself and one for your pieces if you'd like. Just be sure to include title/dimensions/medium/etc.
Interviews will be posted here, my facebook page and artdc.org (and your blog/facebook if you want). Thanks for considering this!
1. What's the one thing you'd like people who aren't familiar with you/your work to know about you?
2. (If you have a show coming up...) What's your favorite piece from the show and why?
3. Do you paint intuitively, with a hardcore plan, or somewhere in between?
4. Who is your biggest influence and why?
5. (If you have a show coming up...) For this show, did you do anything differently... new techniques, subject matter, palette, etc.?
6. Where do you see the DC art scene in five years? In ten?
7. What do you feel is the best thing about being an artist in the DC area?
8. What challenges does the DC area present for local artists?
9. If you could wish for one major change in the local art scene, what would it be?
10. A lot of artists have that one piece in their studio that they would never ever sell. Tell us about yours.

Painting on Plexiglass - Do You?
7/30/09
I'm looking to feature artists who use Plexi, Acrylite, Lexan, etc. as a support/overlay with their painting. If you're interested, please email me at lboocks@yahoo.com with the following:
1. How you got started with it (Out of canvas and no money? Intentionally sought it out? etc.)
2. Why you stuck with it
3. Preferred material brand name (if known)
4. Brief description of technique
5. A few lines about yourself, where people can see your work, etc.
6. Link to your website/blog
7. jpg of an example of your work, if you want that shared, with title, year, dimensions, materials
8. Anything else you'd like to add related to this topic
I'll post my story soon.
